Samartex Ladies Secure Historic Promotion to 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League

FC Samartex Ladies have achieved a historic milestone by booking their place in the 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League (WPL), following a determined campaign in the Zonal Playoffs.

Placed in Group A, Samartex Ladies faced a tough test against Oaks FC, Sissamba Ladies, Rootz Sistaz, Essiam Socrates, and Anlo Ladies. The Timber Ladies displayed grit and consistency throughout the group, finishing with the same points as Oaks FC. However, Oaks topped the group with a superior goal difference of +8 compared to Samartex Ladies’ +4.

Despite finishing second, Samartex Ladies secured promotion to the elite women’s division, marking their debut in the top tier of Ghana women’s football. This qualification crowns a remarkable rise for the team, who just last season were crowned Western Regional Division One champions after beating Wisdom Ladies 3–1 in the final at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.

Their back-to-back successes now elevate them into the country’s premier women’s competition — a testament to their rapid development and ambition.

The debut season will not only showcase the quality of Samartex Ladies but also inspire more young girls in the Western Region to pursue football. Pre-season training and squad announcements will be communicated in the coming weeks as the team prepares for their first-ever WPL campaign.
